We hope that you all had a lovely day yesterday. Here is a photo of Olivia and Tony’s cards as they were not here on Friday to take theirs home.🌷

Forest School

What a difference a week makes! The weather was glorious this afternoon for the second session of Forest School. No soggy clothes or feet for us this week!   Today we made homes for animals which is one of our 50 Things to do at Swan Lane First School activities.  We had a great time working together to create habitats for the cuddly animals (soft toys).  As you can see from all the smiles on display... We learned all about how animals build homes to provide themselves with shelter and protection from predators. We also learned about how humans have eyes on the front of their face, where as lots of other animals have eyes on the sides of their heads to help them detect when a predator might be approaching.  It was great fun having the opportunity to work with people that we don't usually work with too.

Thank you for all of your generous donations. (Evie is in the photo, but she didn't tell us until afterwards that she was hiding behind Charlie.) So here is a photo of her in Forest School with her friends instead...

British Science Week

Image
As part of British Science Week we have conducted a gummy bear experiment. We started by putting a gummy bear into a glass of water and saw that after 24 hours it had grown considerably. We then thought it would be interesting to see what would happen to a bear if left in water containing other elements, such as lemon juice, salt and vinegar. We talked about what we would need to do to ensure it was a fair test and then set up our experiment. The bears were left in petri dishes on the tables so we could all see what was happening over the 24 hours that they had ben left. We then created a table to record our information and then a bar chart so we could see our results clearly.

Forest School

It might have been a rather damp afternoon, but that didn't stop us having a fantastic time in Forest School this afternoon.  And the smores definitely helped to warm us up. What a treat! My mouth is salivating just looking at these photos. Thank you to Ghofran and Bissan who made sure they brought one in for me so I didn't miss out!

Sharing our books with 1PJ

We had such a lovely time reading our books to the children in Year 1. All the children thought the books were fantastic.
